KOPPAL: In a twist to the Koppal gangrape case, the medical officer, Dr Shivakumar, has been accused of destroying evidence. A complaint has been filed against him at Yelburga police station.
The complaint alleges that Shivakumar, an orthopaedic and trauma specialist, got signatures from his assistant on samples collected during the examination of the accused. He allegedly made the evidence, including DNA samples, unavailable.
Sixteen pieces of evidence collected from the accused are now missing, the complaint filed by CPI Mouneswara Malipatil under Section 238(B) of the IPC says. The police have registered the case with the court’s permission. However, the medical officer has refused to comment on the allegations.
