KALABURAGI: A video has surfaced showing inmates playing cards and consuming liquor and cigarettes inside Kalaburagi central jail, sparking allegations of corruption.
The video is believed to be linked to PSI recruitment scam kingpin R D Patil, who is currently lodged in the jail. Jail authorities suspect Patil’s involvement in circulating the video, while Jail Superintendent Dr Anita said there is suspicion that some staff members may have facilitated the contraband.
The video shows four inmates, including Akash, Rakesh and Prajwal, playing cards and enjoying liquor and cigarettes. It is alleged that Patil’s associates created the video to prevent his transfer to another jail. The inmates are reportedly trying to warn authorities not to shift Patil.
Following the controversy, police conducted a raid at the jail but found no evidence as the inmates had hidden their phones. The incident has raised concerns about corruption and security within the jail.
