Life convict at Shivamogga jail dies due to diabetes complications

SHIVAMOGGA: A prisoner, serving a life sentence at Shivamogga Central Jail, died at McGann Teaching Hospital in the city due to complications from diabetes, in the early hours on Tuesday.

Krishna (44) was transferred to the hospital on December 5 for emergency treatment after being diagnosed with diabetes and had been undergoing treatment at McGann Hospital several times before.

Krishna (inmate number 01871) hailed from Gartikere in Hosanagara taluk and had been shifted from the undertrial barracks to the convicts’ barracks on April 29 this year.
