BENGALURU: A young woman was allegedly cheated out of lakhs of rupees by her boyfriend, who promised that he would marry her. A complaint has been registered against him alleging ‘love jihad’.
The complainant alleged that the Suddaguntepalya police have not even taken any action against the accused even after nine months since she lodged the complaint.
The accused, identified as Usman, was introduced to the young woman through friends. He allegedly pursued her and obtained lakhs of rupees, gold jewellery and forced the victim into a physical relationship. He is alleged to have taken Rs 13 lakh and gold saying he would marry her, but then backing out and cheated her.
Usman allegedly threatened the Hindu girlfriend, forcing her to convert to Islam and warning that if she did not marry him, he would kill her. He allegedly threatened that he would kill her and chop her body into pieces like the Delhi case and make her body unidentifiable.
Distressed, the woman filed a complaint at the SG Palya police station in March, stating that the money and gold she had given him had not been recovered by the police and that she had not been interrogated or arrested. However, the police said the accused was arrested and sent to jail, but he has now been released on bail.
