UDUPI: Five labourers were killed after a goods vehicle crashed into the divider of a service road and overturned on the national highway in Kaup taluk on Sunday. The deceased were originally from Uttar Pradesh and the injured persons are receiving treatment at a hospital.
The goods vehicle was carrying decorative fixtures and items from Kaup to Udupi. The speeding vehicle overturned on the national highway leading to the death of two workers on the spot while three of the four who were admitted to a hospital died later.
Twelve people were travelling in the vehicle. The injured have been admitted to various private hospitals for treatment. The goods vehicle fell across the divider and on to the service road in the accident.
