BENGALURU: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has launched a robot to crack down on illegal water connections, and if the robot detects an illegal connection, a hefty fine will be levied.
Because water leakage cases in Bengaluru have increased, the water board has now deployed a robot to identify illegal connections. The robot will help the board detect illegal water connections across Bengaluru. If anyone is caught with an illegal Cauvery connection, officers will fine them.

Ram Prasat Manohar, chairman of BWSSB, said, “The robotic technology will help to identify the leakage points, illegal water connections, contaminated water pipe connections, and UGD and send data through AI. This is an initiative taken by the GBA as part of Brand Bengaluru. The department formed a ‘Blue Force’ in every division. The personnel will be trained and operations will be carried out in the entire division. There are provisions to regularise the water connections based on the structure, and a fine will be imposed on illegal connections”.
