DAVANAGERE: A minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by two autorickshaw drivers and a minor boy accompanying the girl was assaulted in Davanagere. The incident occurred a few days ago and the autorickshaw drivers were arrested after the victim lodged a complaint.
The incident occurred when the victims, who had arrived at the KSRTC bus stand, hired an auto to go home. The drivers took them to a secluded area in the RMC police station limits where they allegedly assaulted the girl and snatched her phone and money and fled. After the victim lodged a complaint, the RMC Yard police took swift action and arrested the accused auto drivers and registered a case.
Police Superintendent Uma Prashant said, “The boy and the girl are in a relationship. The auto drivers took the girl separately and sexually harassed her. When she resisted, they took away her mobile phone and some cash. We have arrested the two autorickshaw drivers and a case has been registered”.
