MYSURU: Actor Shivarajkumar stole the show at the Mysuru Dasara procession by grooving to drum beats as the Jamboo Savari went past a hotel where he was staying with his family.
Shivarajkumar was seated with his family at a private hotel near Highway Circle. He couldn’t resist standing up and dancing to the lively rhythms of the tamate as the cultural troupes marched by during the Jamboo Savari procession. The Dasara Jamboo Savari procession is a grand event featuring beautifully decorated elephants, folk art performances, colorful tableaux, music bands, and majestic horses and camels. It starts at the Mysore Palace and culminates at Bannimantap grounds.
The Mysuru Dasara is a 10-day festival celebrating the victory of truth over evil. This year, it was celebrated for 11 days as per the Hindu calendar. The idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari is placed in a golden howdah on the back of a decorated elephant and taken on a procession. The festivities conclude with a torchlight parade on Vijayadashami day.
