BENGALURU: A gang of thieves, which have been stealing batteries from vehicles parked outside houses, has been active in Indlawadi village in Anekal on the outskirts of Bengaluru and its surrounding areas, causing distress to residents.

The thefts have been happening at night for over a week, with the thieves also targeting construction sites and stealing metal rods. A CCTV camera captured footage of a thief, who arrived on a bike and swiftly stole the batteries from the parked vehicles and fled.

In one instance, villagers attempted to catch the thief while he was stealing batteries, but he managed to escape by abandoning the bike and batteries. The villagers handed over the bike and batteries to the police.

The Anekal police visited the place, conducted an investigation, and registered a case at the Anekal police station. Despite the increased activity of these thieves, the police seem to be ineffective in curbing their activities, leaving residents frustrated.
