BAGALKOT: A man, along with a village elder, shaved half of his wife’s head over a domestic dispute at Kadakola village in Jamakhandi taluk. The woman was identified as Sridevi (22).
Basappa would frequently quarrel with his wife Sridevi following which she had gone back to her parental home. However, after counselling by a Sakhi team, she had returned to her husband’s house two months ago.
However, Basappa would come home drunk and regularly pick argument with Sridevi. On Saturday night, after another round of argument, Basappa, along with Sadashiva Nyamagouda, assaulted her partly shaved her head forcefully. She has now be admitted to the district hospital in Bagalkot.
Bagalkot Police Superintendent Siddarth Goyal said a medico-legal case has been registered and the police will take appropriate action and secure the accused. “The woman has sustained head injuries. If she lodges a complaint, we will register that too”.
