CHIKKABALLAPUR: Six years after an autorickshaw driver was kidnapped from Sidlaghatta, murdered and his body dumped in Tamil Nadu, the police have arrested five people in the case. The arrested are Harish a.k.a Afal, Diwakar, Marthanda a.k.a Konda, Ranjit Kumar a.k.a. egg rice Ranjit and Manjunath a.k.a. Kademme.
The five arrested, along with Mahesh a.k.a Handiganala Mahesh, and Shivashankar a.k.a Jockey who has been arrested by the Tamil Nadu police, had kidnapped Girish (27), a resident of Rajeev Gowda Layout in Sidlaghatta, on May 12, 2019, took him to Kolar via Narasapura and Hoskote during when they brutally tortured and killed him. They later dumped the body close to a lake near Denkanikotai in Tamil Nadu, Police Superintendent Kushal Chowksey said.
After the murder, the accused had been living a normal life. “Girish, who was an autorickshaw driver near the Sidlaghatta bus stand, had got into disputes with Shivashankar a.k.a Jockey and Harish a.k.a Afal on several occasions. Hence, they conspired to kill him. After the unidentified body was found, the Tamil Nadu polcie had not been able to crack the case even after six years. After the case was transferred to the Sidlaghatta police, five people have been arrested. A search has been launched for Harish a.k.a Handiganala Harish”, the SP added.
