CHIKKAMAGALUR: Two unidentified men were caught on CCTV camera stealing a cow in a car after feeding it bread laced with some intoxicant at Banakal village in Mudigere taluk in the wee hours on Wednesday.
In the footage, two men can be seen approaching a herd of cows sleeping in front of a hospital and feeding them bread laced with an intoxicant. While some of the cows leave the spot, the duo manages to catch one cow, stuff it into the boot of a hatchback car and make good their escape.
Locals have vented their anger at the government and police over the frequent cattle thefts in the region. They pointed out that the Bidadi breed of cattle are mostly targeted and demanded that the cattle thieves be arrested at the earliest.
