BENGALURU: A man who was posing as the lawyer of conwoman Savitha, who cheated people of Rs 50 crore by organising kitty parties targeting wealthy women, was arrested by the police for obstructing their duty and abusing them. The arrested accused is Yoganand (52).
The accused, Yoganand, was trying to take a house key from Savitha’s possession and was creating a ruckus when the police stopped him. He then challenged the police how they could prevent him from taking the key. Inspector Govindaraj from the KP Agrahara police station noticed Yoganand’s behavior and recalled him from a previous case.
In the past, Yoganand had assaulted an elderly woman fruit vendor, and Inspector Govindaraj, who was then a sub-inspector in Basaveshwara Nagar, had arrested him. When questioned about his profession, he claimed to be a professor, not a lawyer.
The police discovered that Yoganand was impersonating a lawyer and threatening people. He was arrested and sent to jail for his involvement in the cheating case and obstructing the police’s duty.
