BENGALURU: Following the arrest of City Armed Reserve (CAR) Assistant Sub-Inspector Chand Pasha by the National Investigation Agency (NIS) for allegedly aiding terrorist TN Nazeer, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh has ordered an departmental inquiry.

The Police Commissioner said, “Wewill take action as per the rules. An investigation will be conducted and action will be taken accordingly. Generally, when such allegations are made, it is customary to suspend the officer. The NIA is already investigating the matter, and we will conduct our own investigation and submit a report. The police commissioner has assured that action will be taken against Chand Pasha if found guilty.

The team that had planned to help terrorist Nazeer escape from Parappana Agrahara jail was caught by the CCB two years ago. During the arrest, the police seized several explosives that were being prepared for the escape.

After this setback, Junaid, who was abroad, came up with another plan to rescue Nazeer. He instructed his team to build a network of Muslim youths, including ASI Chand Pasha, and provided financial support for the operation.

However, three members of the team were caught by NIA officials, while several others managed to escape. Since most of Junaid’s associates were lodged in Parappana Agrahara jail, intelligence officials have gathered information about the network’s efforts to recruit new youth and radicalise them.

Currently, Doctor Nagaraj, Nazeer, his associates, and Chand Pasha are undergoing intense interrogation by the NIA. There are suspicions that more people may be involved in the plot from within the jail.
