BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) is preparing to inaugurate the much-delayed yellow line of the Namma Metro network around mid-August, it still seems to be unsure about how many station to operationalise initially.

The Rail Safety Commissioner is expected to carry out and inspection soon after which the yellow line can be declared open. The operations on the line have been delayed due to delays in delivery of the driverless train sets.

The yellow line runs 18.82 km from RV Road station to Bommasandra with 18 stations on the route. It is estimated that about 10 lakh people may take the yellow line Metro daily. The BMRCL has only four train sets so far and is hence worried about the frequency of trains and how many stations can be operationalised.

With heavy footfall expected, it will become imperative for the BMRCL to run trains at frequent intervals on the yellow line with all stations operational. However, with limited train sets, it seems handicapped as it can runs trains only at 30-minute intervals now. The BMRCL authorities are meeting next week to discuss these issues and is expected to come up with a working plan.
