There have been several complaints regarding the ongoing caste survey.

BENGALURU: Following widespread complaints of the caste survey not being carried out properly and stickers with QR codes being simply stuck on houses and even two-wheelers, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao said an inquiry will be conducted by senior officers and action will be taken in case of negligence.

“The survey has been going on for the last two months, but there are complaints that it is not being done properly. We will look into this in a detailed manner and take action. The surveyors are supposed to visit houses, speak to the people and only then paste the stickers and not before”, Rao explained.

After Public TV reported about discrepancied in the survey, Maheshwar Rao directed the South zone commissioner to look into the lapses. “I will send revenue officials to the spot and get information”, the south zone commissioner said.

Meanwhile, Nandish, a house owner was allegedly assaulted by BBMP supervisor Suresh at Sarvabhouma Nagar in Chikkallasandra for questioning why the QR code stickers were being pasted without conducting a survey.

Nandish said Suresh, who is a health supervisor at Vasanthapura, kicked him and even slapped him. He has since lodged a complaint with the Subramanyapura police. On his part, Suresh claimed that he was uploading the details of neighbouring house when Nandish started using foul language and abused his mother. “I reacted because he abused my mother”, he added.

Reacting to the incident, BBMP Special Commissioner Vikas Suralkar Kishor said an inquiry will be conducted at the zonal level. “Action will be taken against whoever is at fault. The survey should be conducted by visiting each house. Otherwise, disciplinary action will be taken”, he added.
