Goods vehicle driven over stray dog; Six dogs poisoned, five die in KR Pura

BENGALURU: The driver of a Tata Ace goods vehicle allegedly ran over a stray dog on purpose in KR Pura area. The incident occurred around 2 pm on June 17 on a road behind Mahalakshmi Timber Mart.

The driver did not stop the vehicle after the wheel ran over the dog’s spine, causing a serious injury.

In another incident of human cruelty, five of six stray dogs died suddenly at Bhattarahalli in KR Puram around 10 pm on June 18.

In CCTV footage, six dogs can be seen playing in front of a house and suddenly fell sick. Locals tried to rescue them with water, but it was of no use.

Locals suspect that the dogs might have been poisoned as they were seen roaming around normally just minutes before their death, which was captured on CCTV footage.

When the locals rushed to the place, they found one dog still alive, while the other five had succumbed to death. BBMP officials visited the area and conducted an inspection.

A complaint has been filed at the KR Puram police station, and an FIR has been registered.

The police have sent the dogs’ blood samples for forensic analysis as part of the investigation into the cause of death and are await the report before proceeding with the investigation.

Local resident Mahesh said that he cannot suspect anybody, as it was stray dogs. “Someone poisoned the dogs. They all fell sick around 10 pm and died”, he said.
