RAICHUR: A Home Guard commandant was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta police while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 in the middle of the road here on Tuesday night. He had demanded a bribe in connection with a transfer issue.
The commandant, Jambannna Ramaswamy, had demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe from Home Guard Mareppa who wanted a transfer to the women’s police station. He was caught while receiving a part of the bribe amount.
The Lokayukta police have taken Jambanna Ramaswamy into custody and were questioning him. Further investigation is under way.
