KALABURAGI: The Indian Army is calling back soldiers, who had gone to their hometowns on leave, to report back for duty with the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

Hanumantaraya Ause, a CRPF soldier from Dutturgaum village in Aland taluk and posted in Pulwama, had come home on leave for his wife’s delivery and was spending time with his newborn son and wife. However, he received an emergency call to report back to duty in Srinagar, Jammu.

Hanumantaraya, who has been serving in the CRPF for 20 years, bid farewell to his family and left for Jammu via Hyderabad. His family members sent him off with a farewell ceremony at the Kalaburagi railway station.

Hanumantaraya said, “I came on leave for one month from April 25 to May 25, but due to the conflict situation at the border, I got a call from the unit a week ago. Safety of the country and serving the country are my first priorities; family is next. Yes, I proudly report the army cut short my holiday”.

Similarly, Siddappa, a BSF soldier from Babaleshwar taluk in Vijayapura district, had come home on leave, but received an urgent call to report back to duty. He is set to leave for West Bengal via Hyderabad from the Kalaburagi railway station.

The soldiers are prioritizing their duty to serve the country over their family commitments, as the Indian Army recalls soldiers on leave due to the ongoing tensions at the border.
