Police constable booked under POCSO Act for dumping girl after registering marriage

YADGIR: A police constable has at the Saidapur police station been booked under the POCSO Act for dumping a girl with whom he had registered his marriage after having a sexual relationship with her for two years and getting her pregnant.

Police constable Balaram was in a relationship with a girl from a village coming under Saidapur police station limits in Yadgir district from the time when she was 16 years old. When she got pregnant, he got her to abort by giving her pills.

In December last year, Balaram registered his marriage with the girl after she turned 18, but his family refused to accept her as the bride. Following this, Balaram dumped her stating that he had not relationship with her.

Now, the girl and her family are demanding justice and lodged a complaint against the constable, following which he was booked under the POCSO Act.
