BENGALURU: Two bike-borne thieves snatched a gold chain from an elderly woman while she was walking on the road near Upkar Layout in Whitefield on Tuesday morning.
Two women were walking on the road when the two chain snatchers came from behind and snatched one of the women’s chain from her neck. As the chain snatchers pulled the chain, the woman fell down while trying to resist them. The other woman, who was with the victim, was shocked and ran away from the scene, but later came back to help her to her feet, CCTV footage shows.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras. The police have registered a case at the Whitefield police station and are trying to identify the chain snatchers who are still at large.
The incident has created fear among the locals, who are demanding more security in the area as chain snatchers have become active again in the city.
