81.15 pc students pass PUC II exams this year, Dakshina Kannada records highest

BENGALURU: The state has registered an overall pass percentage of 81.15 in the PUC II exams, the results of which were announced on Wednesday. This was a 6.48 per cent increase over last year. A total of 5,52,690 students had appeared for the exams across the state.

In the Arts stream, the top scorers are Medha D (596) of NMKRV College, Jayanagar, Bengaluru; Vedant Jnyanuba Navi (596), SS PU College, Vijayapura and Kavitha B V (596), Indu PU College, Ballari.

In the Commerce stream, Gnanavi M (597) of Vidyanidhi College, Kuvempunagar, Tumakuru was the top scorer while A Vidyalakshmi (598) of Vidyaniketan SC PU College top-scored in Science.

Expectedly, the girls fared better with 3,05,212( 84.87 pc) passing as against 2,47,478( 76.98 pc) boys. A total of 1,53,370 passed with distinction, 2,89,733 in first class, 72,098 in second class and 37,489 in third class. Rural students 1,20,630 (81.31 pc) fared better than their urban counterparts 4,32,060 (81.10 pc).

In the Arts stream, a total of 1,28,448 (68.36 pc) passed the exams, while in the Commerce stream, 1,74,315 (80.94 pc) passed and in the Science stream, 2,49,927(89.9 pc) made it through.

Among the districts, Dakshina Kannada was on top of the table with a pass percentage of 97.37 pc, followed by Udupi at 96.80 pc, Vijayapura at 94.89 pc with Gadag at the bottom at 72.86 pc.

School Education and Literacy Department also announced the schedule for the PUC II examination-2 which will be held between April 29 and May 16. The last date to apply for scanned copies of answer scripts is April 16 and answer scripts can be downloaded between Apri 18 and 19. The fee for scanned copies is Rs 530.

Applications for recounting and revaluation can be submitted between April 14 and 19. The fee for revaluation is Rs 1,670 per paper. The last date for applications for examination-2 without penalty is April 16 and with penalty is April 17-18.

Those who wrote the examination-1 and planning to write examination-2 have to pay Rs 120 for one paper, Rs 270 for two papers and Rs 400 for three or more papers. The marks cards will be make available immediately in the DigiLocker and physical marks cards will reach the students, except for those who have applied for improvement of scores, within 30 days.

Principal Secretary, School Education and Literacy Department Ritesh Kumar Singh said the valuation of SSLC answer scrips will be taken up now and the results will be announced in the first week of May. Regarding the results of Classes 5, 8 and 9, he said they will consult the advocate general and then take a decision.
