MANGALURU: A 77-year-old fisherman died after his fishing boat capsized in the Netravati river at Adyar Katte near Harekala on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Robert Ferrao (77), a resident of Adyar.

Robert had gone fishing in his small boat which got caught in a strong current and capsized. A group of labourers from other states, who were working on the Harekala-Adyar bridge, rescued him. The police and locals rushed him to a hospital, but he failed to respond to treatment and succumbed.

A case has been registered at Konaje police station.
