BENGALURU: Two women, including one who was seven months pregnant, were crushed to death by a multi-axle truck when they were crossing the road near Narayana Health City to reach the hospital.

The deceased were identified as Rukiya Patan (28), hailing from Budinalapalle in Madanapalle of Andhra Pradesh, and Lakshmamma (50), a resident of Madhuranagar in Bommasandra.

Rukiya had arrived in Bengaluru on Wednesday and had planned to visit Narayana Health City and the baby in her womb was diagnosed with a hole in the heart.

On Thursday morning, accompanied by a relative, she was crossing the road in front of the hospital when she and another woman, Lakshmamma, were run over by the truck.

A short while ago, she had escaped a goods vehicle hitting her. She chose to cross the road instead of taking the skywalk as she was pregnant. The Hebbagodi police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
