BENGALURU: The scorching summer has begun in the state. While the heat wave is distressing people, on the other hand, water scarcity in some areas of the city is making people lose sleep.

As of now, 65 wards in the city are facing drinking water scarcity. Groundwater is depleting and outcry for water has begun. Although Bengaluru is not facing a water scarcity as severe as last year, there are reports from some areas that Cauvery water is not available and borewell water has also reduced.

A reality check by Public TV revealed that residents are staying awake all night for water aty Chamundinagar near Rajajinagar. At Thippenahalli in Doddabidarakallu, Cauvery water is supplied once a week and residents are dependent on tankers.

While Cauvery water may not be a major problem for people in old Bengaluru, scarcity of Cauvery is slowly affecting the outskirts, and borewells are also drying up. The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, which has plans to supply water through tankers, hasn’t made it clear how it will fix the problem.
