6-yr-old girl suffers burn injuries after hot sambar falls on her at anganwadi

MANDYA: A six-year-old girl suffered burn injuries after hot sambar fell on her at the anganwadi centre in Hemmanahalli in Maddur taluk. The girl, who has sustained serious injuries, is unable to speak or eat.

Manjunath and Pooja, who hail from Davanagere, had come to Maddur to sell masala powder. When they went around for sales with their pushcart, they would leave their daughter Niharika at the anganwadi centre.

Last Monday, Lakshmi, an assistant at the anganwadi centre, was carrying hot sambar in a vessel when she and Niharika bumped into each other. The sambar spilt on Niharika, burning her in the face, shoulder and neck. The girl is since undergoing treatment at the taluk hospital.

On Saturday, taluk health officer Pradeep visited the girl at the hospital and inquired about her health.
