RAICHUR: A six-year-old girl child was badly injured after she was attacked by pigs at Arab Mohalla in Haji Colony here on Sunday. The injured girl was identified as Muddamma.

The girl was with her mother who was begging on the street when the incident occurred. The mother had left the child by the roadside when she was viciously attacked, leaving her injured in the face, hands and legs.

The injured girl was immediately shifted to Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). Yellamma, the girl’s mother, said, “She was sitting by the roadside and went to relieve herself when two pigs attacked her. A local person rescued my child and helped me admit her to RIMS. I have lost my husband and we have no home”.

Yellamma, a resident of LBS Nagar, had resorted to begging ever since the death of her husband. She has two daughters. Locals have complained that the menace of street dogs and pigs have increased due to the negligence of the civic agencies.
