BENGALURU: An 11-year-old boy has been accused of stealing 120 grams of gold, with allegations of police misconduct in the investigation.

The boy’s father, Balaji, runs a laundry shop at Shanthipura in Vinayaka Layout in Parappana Agrahara police limis. According to Balaji, a woman came to their neighborhood in August and gave his son Rs 10 while he was working at the shop.

Six months later, the woman filed a complaint alleging that she had lost a purse containing 120 grams of gold and accused the boy of theft. The police summoned the boy and his parents for questioning. The boy was allegedly subjected to physical abuse and forced to confess to the crime on video, with threats that his parents would be jailed for three years if he didn’t comply.

The family is now seeking justice, claiming that the woman and the police are conspiring against them. They questioned why the woman waited six months to file the complaint and why the police are acting on it now.

The boy has suffered injuries to his ear due to the alleged assault and is receiving medical treatment. The family is seeking help and demanding an investigation into the police’s conduct.
