TUMAKURU: Five people miraculously survived in two separate accidents on the National Highway-75 in Kunigal taluk on Tuesday afternoon. Both accidents were captured on CCTV cameras.
In the first incident in Kunigal, a Toyota Innova MUV, which was speeding on the shoulder of the road, hit a concrete barrier, flipped over, hit a parked Mahindra Scorpio SUV and came to rest upside down. Locals rushed to the MUV and pulled out the four passengers, who were lucky to be alive.
In the second incident near Anchepalya, a youth, identified as Manu, had stopped his motorcycle on the shoulder of the road in front of a hotel and was talking on the phone when he spotted an out-of-control truck hurtling towards him.
Manu got off the bike and rushed back just as the truck crushed his vehicle and came to a halt a little distance away.
The youth seemed dazed after by the turn of events, but escaped death by a whisker due to his quick thinking.
