5 from AP dead, 13 injured as passenger vehicle rams into parked truck near in Yadgir district

The passenger vehicle in which 18 people were travelling, rammed into a parked truck.

YADGIR: Five people, including a father-son duo, were killed and 13 people were injured, five of them seriously, when the Force Toofan commercial passenger vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a parked truck on National Highway 150 near Balichakra village in the district early on Tuesday.

The occupants of the vehicle are said to be hailing from Nandyal district of Andhra Pradesh. They were proceeding to Kalaburagi to participate in the Khwaja Bande Nawaz dargah urus. All the injured have been admitted to the Yadgir district hospital. The deceased were identified as Muneer (40), Nayamat (40), Mudassir (12), Ramiza Begum (50) and, Summi (12).

The truck was paked by the side of NH 150.

Yadgir Superintendent of Police Dr C B Vedamurthy said the passenger vehicle rammed into the truck that was paked by the roadside around 4 am, killing five of the 18 occupants on the spot. All the five deceased were relatives, including the father-son duo of Muneer and Mudassir, who hailed from Bandi Atmakur village. The other three are from Velugodu village. The driver must have dozed off, the SP said.

The Saidapur police visited the spot and have registered a case.
