BENGALURU: A whopping 4,000 complaints were received from eight Assembly constituencies during the public grievances redressal programme organised under ‘Government at Your Doorstep’ initiative recently.
In Bengaluru, the majority of issues raised by citizens were linked to problems with the revenue department of BBMP. There are a high number of appeals pertaining to the BBMP revenue department as there as may cases regarding the issue of khatha.
In Bengaluru, the Congress government is conducting a ‘Government at Your Doorstep’ public grievances redressal programme, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. The initiative has covered Assembly constituencies coming under Mahadevpura, Yelahanka and East zone. Appeals have been received from KR Pura, Mahadevpura, Yelahanka, Dasarahalli, Batarayanapura Assembly constituencies, including Hebbal, Shivajinagar and Pulakeshi Nagar. About 3,500 applications have been received from the public.
Of them, most of the complaints relate to departments including BBMP, BDA, BWSSB and revenue department, The highest number of grievances were related to the BBMP and revenue department.
The problems highlighted include encroachment of rajakaluve, garbage disposal, tax issues, distribution of land title deeds, drinking water problems, and lack of housing. A lot of people have sought houses under various housing schemes of the government.
All the departments are trying to sort out the appeals by segregating them at the ward level and setting a deadline for officials to resolve the issues. They are giving solutions to problems that can be solved on the spot, and some of them have been suggested to be taken up with the the Law department.
