DAVANAGERE: The police have so far arrested 40 people in connection with the attack on the Channagiri police station by a mob. The police station was targeted after a man accused of organsing gambling had allegedly died while in police custody.
Superintendent of Police Uma Prashant said they are going through all videos related to the attack on the police station and insisted that no innocent people will be harassed. “Action is being taken only against those who were involved in the violence”, she said.
The SP further said they have already held meetings with Muslim community leaders. “Those who are innocent need not fear. The case of death in police custody has already been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department”, she added.
