4-year-old boy crushed to death under car driven by minor while cleaning

BENGALURU: A four-year-old boy was killed due to rash and negligent driving by a  minor youth in Jai Bhim Nagar in Murugesh Palya on Old Airport Road around 10.30 am today.

The deceased has been identified as Aarav (4). He celebrated his birthday just last Sunday.

Arav was playing on the road in front of his house when the minor youth started the car and ran over the child. The car bore a ‘Police’ sticker and belongs to Mallesh, a Hoysala patrol driver with Whitefield police. He had gone to his relative’s residence when the accident occurred. The car was said to be driven by the brother of Mallesh’s wife.

It was suspected that the youth turned on the car key while it was being washed and pressed the accelerator. The car went out of control and hit two other boys and a person on the road. Besides, it also hit 4-5 two wheelers which were parked by the roadside.

The body of the boy was completely crushed under the wheels of the car. The body of the boy shifted to Manipal Hospital. The Jeevan Bima Nagar police have arrested the minor who was driving the car for rash driving.
