BENGALURU: A 33-year-old married woman and a mother of two children, was brutally stabbed to death 17 times by her paramour, a techie, at an OYO room in Poornaprajna Layout on Friday night. The accused software engineer has since been arrested and produced before a court on Monday which remanded him to judicial custody.
The victim Harini (36), a housewife, was married to Dasegowda and was allegedly having an extra-marital affair with techie Yashas (25). Both are residents of Kengeri and met each other during a fair in the locality. After exchanging phone numbers, they would chat and even go out on dates.
After Dasegowda came to know of the affair, he took away Harini’s phone and did not allow her to go out of the house for a few months. In the meanwhile, Yashas had been angy as he had not been able to meet Harini and had decided to kill her.
After a few months, when Harini got out of the house, she got in touch with Yashas. They decided to meet at an OYO room in Poornaprajna Layout and Yashas had even purchased a knife, police said.
Yashas brutally stabbed Harini, in the neck, chest and abdomen 17 times and fled from there. He then returned home and attempted suicide by slitting his wrist, but went to the Kengeri police station on Saturday to surrender. However, the Kengeri police handed him over to the Subramanyapura police, who arrested him.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh Jagalasar said, “Yashas was angry that Harini was trying to maintain distance from her and stabbed her. He had purchased a knife with an intention to kill her. They had met through a mutual friend and were known to each other for about a year. We are continuing our investigation”.
