RAICHUR: Three units of the Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) at Shaktinagar here have halted power production due to a technical issue. Due to this, there is a significant shortfall in power production in the state.
The RTPS has a power production capacity of 1,720 mw when fully functional. However, with Units 1, 2 and 3 shut down now, the production has dropped to 678 mw.
After the flyash bunkler collapsed 11 months ago, the Unit 1 has not been producing power. Now, Units 2 and 3 are also shut. However, Unit 6, which was shut due to technical issues, commenced power production from today.
Only recently, Energy Minister K J George had visited the power plant and had promised to look into the problems. But RTPS continues to be bogged by technical problems.
