HAVERI: Three members of a family, including a couple and their daughter, ended their lives unable to repay debts, at their residence in Thondur village of Savanur taluk on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Hanumantha Gowda Patil (54), Lalitha Patil (50) and their daughter Nethra Patil (22). The couple had married off their daughter by taking a loan of Rs 25 lakh but were unable to repay it. Upset over this, they committed suicide. Crestfallen by her parent’s death, Nethra too committed suicide.
A case was registered at Savanur police station and the police visited the spot. Further investigation is under way.
