20 acres of sugarcane crop burnt by power lines in T Narsipur taluk

MYSURU: Standing sugarcane crop on 20 acres of land was completely destroyed in a fire, believed to have been caused by an snapped power line at Kurubara Hundi village in T Narasipur taluk.

The fire spread to the neighbouring fields due to the strong winds and Rs 50 lakh worth of sugarcane crop was burnt. Seven acres of land belonged to Subramanya, and another seven acres belonged to Naga.

The Fire and Emergency Services reached the spot and tried to put out the fire. Luckily no casualties were reported.
