15 children hurt as school bus topples; Wedding party has lucky escape at MM Hills

CHIKKABALLAPUR, CHAMARAJANAGAR: At least 15 students were injured after their school bus toppled and fell into a roadside field near Dapparthi in Gudibande taluk on Monday after the driver lost control.

About 15 students who were in the bus sustained injuries.

The school bus belonged to MRVS School at Mandikal and the injured children were shifted to a hospital by locals. The Gudibande police have registered a case.

In another case, passengers of a private bus had a narrow escape after it shot off the road at a curve on MM Hills and was hanging precariously over a valley. Luckily, the bus came to a halt after crashing into some trees.

It is said that the accident was caused due to brake failure. The bus was carrying 25 people, including a newlywed couple, who were returning after a mass marriage ceremony at the temple. The passengers were from Maddur in Mandya district.
