BENGALURU: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 14-year-old boy spent two days in Ganganagar without realising that she was dead. The deceased has been identified as Annamma (44). She had died in her sleep, but the boy thought that she had not woken up due to ill health.
Ilangovan and Annamma, along with their son Surya, lived in a small house on 5th Cross, Ganganagar. But the couple suffered from illnesses. Eight months ago, Ilangovan died due to kidney failure. Later, Annamma suffered a stroke and was unable to speak. The mother and son were pulling through with help from Ilangovan’s friends. Surya cooked food and most of the time, they did not come out of the house.
Annamma died in her sleep on February 26. However, the son had not realised that she was dead. He came out of the house, took lunch and snacks from outside, and went back home. On February 28, the son told his father’s friends that his mother was not talking. When they entered the house, they saw that she was dead. The incident occurred in RT Nagar police station limits.
“They have been living here for many years. We thought the stench was because rats had died. The boy did not tell anyone and called his father’s friend and informed him. When they checked, they found that Annamma had died. We then took them to a hospital. After the death of her husband, Annamma talked less. When we inquired about her with her son, he would tell us that she did not eat well”, said Usha, a neighbour.
