BENGALURU: A huge crane caught fire in the middle of the road near Yelachenahalli Metro station in the city on Monday night. Two fire tenders were pressed into service and the fire brigade staff struggled to bring the blaze under control.
The crane was moving from Varthur to Bidadi and the fire initially broke out at the front part. The driver immediately stopped the crane by the side of the road on noticing some issues with it.
The three men on the crane jumped down on to the road as soon as the fire started engulfing the vehicle. Vehicles movement was also immediately blocked to prevent any untoward incidents.
Sources said the fire broke out from the oil and electrical wiring in front of the crane. As soon as the Fire and Emergency Services unit got the information, they reached the spot, and extinguished the fire.
