BENGALURU: Altaf Khan, president of the Minorities Development Corporation and a close aide of Waqf Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, reportedly received a threatening call from an anonymous person around 8.45 pm on February 5 saying that he should not be a witness in the court.

The unknown caller asked Altaf to come near him and then started talking to him. The caller contacted Altaf’s acquaintance Azmat Ullah and asked to give his phone to him.

The caller warned Altaf, ‘Don’t play with the banned PFI organisation. Don’t work as an RSS agent. You have been saved from the target many times, but now you won’t be spared. You couldn’t save your siblings; how will you save yourself and your family?’ The caller also mentioned Altaf’s daughter’s wedding.

The anonymous caller said he won’t let Altaf’s family and him live. Altaf Khan filed a complaint with the JJR Nagar police station regarding the threat call. The case was later transferred to the CCB. During the investigation, it was found that the call was made from Dubai.

The CCB has taken a Dubai-based person into custody for questioning in connection with the threatening call to Altaf Khan.
