DAVANAGERE: Youths popping wheelies on National Highway-48 have become a danger to other motorists, but the police seem to have turned a blind eye to the issue.

Recently, a group of youths were caught on camera popping wheelies on NH-48 near Bada Cross here. While one scooter had no registration plates, a motorcycle did have them. Their act was captured on a mobile phone camera by some unidentified persons travelling in a car.

While one of the vehicles had registration plates, the other did not.

Gajendra, a convener of the Yuva Brigade, in a self-made video, said, “We spotted a group of youths popping wheelies on two two-wheelers near the Vishwaradhya Cancer Institute when we were travelling from Chitradurga to Davanagere. They were unmindful of the traffic on the highway which sees thousands of vehicles ply every day. We tried to reason with them, but they wouldn’t listen. The police should take strick against them and keep the the highway clear for traffic so that there are no loss of lives”.

Further, he said, “Youths should not attempt such stunts at public places as it could lead to major accidents. Youngsters should realise that life is invaluable and they can contribute to the country”.
