Youth who had gone missing while on trek at Savanadurga found dead

RAMANAGARA: A youth, who was missing for four days after he had gone on a trek to Savanadurga hills in the district, was found dead after a search operation that lasted about 100 hours. The deceased was identified as Gagandeep Singh, hailing from Uttar Pradesh.

The police, forest staff, fire services men and the SDRF conducted a search for 100 hours.

Last Sunday, Gagandeep Singh had gone on a trek along with a friend, but had gone missing. His mobile phone was also switched off. The friend returned and approached the Magadi police for help.

Some of Gagandeep’s clothes were found stuck in rocks.

The police and forest staff, along with a team of the SDRF, launched a search using drones with thermal imaging cameras and a dog squad. Gagandeep’s body was finally found on Thursday after a 100-hour search. Police said he may have lost his footing and had slipped into a ravine.

Gagandeep’s family has been notified and the police have taken up further investigation after registering a case.
