BENGALURU: A youth stabbed his friend to death for revealing about theft of gold from his mother at Krishnappa Layout in Konanakunte on October 25. The accused Preetham has since been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
Rahul had a dispute with his friend Preetham regarding a gold theft. Preetham’s mother had reported that 3 grams of gold had gone missing 10 days prior to the incident, and both Rahul and Preetham were accusing each other of the theft.
Last Saturday, Rahul saw Preetham with the gold in his bag and told Preetham’s mother that her son had stolen the gold. Enraged by this, Preetham’s mother confronted him, which led to a heated argument between the two friends. In the heat of the moment, Preetham stabbed Rahul to death with a knife.
The police registered an FIR and arrested Rahul in connection with the murder. Preliminary investigation revealed that Preetham had indeed stolen the gold from his mother and had killed his friend.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Anitha Haddannanavar said Preetham was angry that Rahul had branded him a thief. “He called Rahul and some other friends and attacked Rahul with a kitchen knife, stabbing him in the back, chest and leg. Rahul was rushed to hospital by the other friends, but died on the evening of October 26. The police arrested Preetham the next day”.
