VIJAYAPURA: A 22-year-old youth shot himself dead with his father’s licenced pistol at their house at Shikari Khan Extension here on Friday. The deceased was identified as Ashnan P Mirji, who is the son of former coporator Prakash Mirji.
Ashnan shot himself in the head in a bedroom when his parents and others were at home. On hearing the sound, the parents rushed to the bedroom to find their son lying in a pool of blood. They immediately rushed Ashnan to the BLDE Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Senior police officers visited the spot and while the body was shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. The reason for the youth committing suicide was not immediately known. The APMC police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
