BENGALURU: A police sub-inspector (PSI) has been booked for allegedly assaulting a youth who had obtained anticipatory bail and reported to the Magadi Road police station. Police Sub-Inspector Kaushik allegedly abused and assaulted Avinash when he reported at the station.

Avinash had obtained anticipatory bail in a case related to cheating in a chit fund case and was reporting to the station as required. However, Kaushik allegedly abused him, saying “You’ve come with bail?” and assaulted him in front of his sister.

The PSI also threatened Avinash, saying “If you get bail in this case, I’ll file another case against you and get you declared a rowdy”. The medical report mentions damage to the soft tissue on the left ear.

Avinash filed a complaint against Kaushik after approaching a court, and an FIR has been registered at the Magadi Road police station. The complaint alleges that Kaushik assaulted Avinash’s mother and sister, and that they were not given notice before being detained.

The police have registered a case against Kaushik, Lakshmi and Narasimha, and are investigating the matter. Avinash has also alleged that the PSI’s actions were retaliatory, as he had been assaulted for reporting to the station after obtaining bail.
