BAGALKOT: Fed up of his father’s frequent taunts, a youth killed his father, chopped the body into 20 pieces and stuffed them down a borewell on their fields near the Mantur bypass road on the outskirts of Mudhol.
Vitthal Kulali (21) hit his father Parashuram Kulali (54) with an iron rod and killed him late at night on December 6. Then he tried to push the body down the unused borewell, but he could not, he chopped the body into 20 pieces with a machete and then stuffed the pieces into the borewell.
Parashuram used to go out for work and return after 2-3 days. In a drunken state, he would allegedly abuse his wife Saraswati and their two sons Anand and Vitthal and even assault them over trivial reasons.
Saraswati and Anand said Parashuram would pick a quarrel over any work done in the fields and abuse and assalt them. “Fed up of his behaviour, we had moved out of the house on the farm and were living elsewhere. Vittal told us about the murder four days after the incident”, they said.
The two tried to convince Vitthal to surrender himself to the police, but when he refused, they lodged a complaint. The Mudhol police have recovered the body parts using an excavator and have arrested Vitthal.
