HASSAN: A youth, along with his friend, stole a gold necklace from his sister’s bag in her house during the Pitru Paksha rituals in Champaknagar Layout in Sakleshpur town in district.
The accused Jeevan from Hettur, and his friend Prashant, had visited Jeevan’s sister Manasa’s home for lunch during Pitru Paksha. Amidst the celebrations, the duo stole a 16-gram gold necklace worth Rs 1.5 lakh from Manasa’s bag, then sold it to a friend in Bengaluru, and the money was spent on lavish activities.
When Manasa discovered the theft, she lodged a complaint with the police, suspecting her brother and his friend. Upon being questioned by the police, Jeevan and Prashant admitted to the crime.
The police retrieved the gold necklace from Bengaluru and handed it over to Manasa within three hours. Notably, the case was resolved without a formal complaint being registered at the police station.
