BENGALURU: A youth was allegedly killed by the relatives of a girl he was in love with, after tricking him to meet her at a park, on Monday.

Govindaraju, a resident of Mathikere, was in love with Amrutha. Like usual, he messaged her on Monday when the girl’s relatives saw it. The angry relatives then messaged the boy from her phone asking him to meet her at JP Park.

The youth, who was unaware of what was happening, was shocked to find the girl’s relatives at the park when he arrived there. They beat him up and took him to a farm in Byadarahalli where they allegedly killed him.

When the youth did not return home, his mother started looking for him when she was told that Amrutha’s relatives had killed him. She immediately informed the police, who are trying to locate the the missing youth.

“He was sitting near a temple when a relative of the girl took him along on some pretext around 10 am on Monday. When I tried to contact him around 2 pm, the phone was ringing, but no one answered. We don’t know what has happened to Govindaraju. After he did not return home in the night, we lodged a complaint with the Yeshwantpur police around 11 pm on Monday. The girl is studying in Ramaiah college and is staying with her uncle”, the boy’s mother said.

“They killed Govindaraju on Monday itself and have reportedly admitted to the police”, said another relative.
