MANGALURU: The Bajpe police have taken a youth and his female friend into custody after a message that she sent to him created a scare on on IndiGo flight bound for Mumbai from Mangaluru at 11 am on Sunday.
Simran Tom had texted a message to her friend Dipayan Manjhi, who was on the flight, saying ‘you are a bomber’. Simran, who was headed to Bengaluru, sent the text message to Dipayan while she was still in the airport.
A woman passenger seated next to Dipayan happened to see the message and alerted the cabin crew.
After the The IndiGo flight, which was ready for takeoff was called back to a parking bay and the passengers disembarked and thoroughly checked by the security personnel. The flight finally left at 5 pm.
Both Dipayan and Simran, who are from Uttar Pradesh, are now being questioned by the Bajpe police for sparking the scare.
